Description
Experimental/Ambient/Post-Punk
“Yes” is a simple word carrying profound weight—an affirmation born from struggle. This debut from sanctuary on Burial Noise Recordings transforms challenge into something universal: the belief that everybody deserves a “yes.”
Drawing from La Via Dolorosa, the album creates a modern sonic pilgrimage that could easily soundtrack a contemporary depiction of Jesus Christ. The artist sees Christ as a rebel—a kindred spirit—and channels that bold energy through ambient and punk soundscapes.
The album moves between contemplative ambient passages to tension between silence and noise, acceptance and challenge. This juxtaposition mirrors the artist’s own journey from sorrow to peace—a path that parallels Christ’s suffering and resurrection.
Live performances at The Orange Show for Visionary Arts and notsuoH featured vocals and spoken word from the upcoming book “Black,” expanding the work into multimedia territory. These shows reveal “Yes” as part of a larger artistic vision spanning sound, literature, and performance.
Burial Noise Recordings does not seek to correct the album’s arrhythmia. The production has raw emotion, avoiding polish that might neuter the album’s power. What emerges is rebellion as spiritual practice, as actualization. Like the best punks, it understands that saying “yes” to your authentic self means rejecting systems that diminish you.
Sanctuary is an artist unafraid of big themes, creating something genuinely unique by forging their own path.
For a debut, “Yes” shows remarkable maturity and clear purpose.
